Impact

JA of Greater Boston (JA) seeks an Education Manager. The two primary functions of this role are to lead and continue to enhance JA’s flagship program, the Afterschool JA Company Program, which requires recruiting high school students from JA’s impact communities, recruiting and training a diverse group of mentors, and organizing and executing program events. The second function will support the Director, Alumni Success in preparing our alumni with the education, mentorship, and opportunities necessary to be successful in their future careers. A successful candidate will possess strong relationship management skills, a strong work ethic both alone and with a team, and the ability to create, implement, and promote new programs and opportunities to students and various stakeholders. This position works closely with the Education and Development teams.

This is a full-time hybrid position during the academic year and when programs are happening in the summer. Working hours for this position will alternate between 9:00 AM–5:00 PM and 10:30 AM–6:30 PM. The Education Manager will be supplied with a laptop, and additional equipment to be able to work remotely comfortably. Must have reliable internet and transportation. Shared office space and a conference room(s) are available at JA’s Innovation Center @ RSM at 80 City Square in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston.

Primary Responsibilities:

80% Manage Afterschool JA Company Program

- Recruit host locations, as needed, for the program
- Recruit student participants representing JA’s impact areas (currently Boston, Chelsea, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynn, Quincy, and Somerville)
- Recruit a diverse group of volunteers (both in ethnicity and career cluster) to act as mentors for JA Company programs
- Ensure pre- and post-surveys are completed for all students, and post-surveys for mentors
- Develop a calendar of meetings and events for the program
- Plan JA Company program events including, but not limited to, the JA Seed Funding Competition, the JA Company - Expo at the JAGB Board Meeting, and the JA Company Pitch Competition
- Enhance the JACP curriculum through the creation of additional content, particularly around business savvy and innovative product development
- Encourage and support JA Company programs in applying to our JA USA national competition, JA FutureBound
- Attend and participate in JA’s special events, board meetings, and other meetings or events

20% Support the JA Career Pathway for Alumni

- Support student recruitment and program implementation of JA alumni programming
- Collaborate with the Development team to engage corporate volunteers
- Ensure post-surveys are completed and feedback compiled for all alumni programming and events

Qualifications (required)

- Must have an entrepreneurial mindset, open to learning new things, and willing to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support innovative and entrepreneurial experiences
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills; keen attention to detail and diligent follow-through a must
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, as well as independently
- Success in coordinating, managing, problem-solving, and executing programs and projects
- Ability to work well in a highly collaborative team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- Knowledge and experience with a CRM system, preferably Blackbaud (e.g. Raiser’s Edge); familiarity with Asana a plus
- Ability to work independently and virtually effectively
- Bi-lingual a plus, specifically Spanish

Compensation and Benefits

The range for this position is $60,000-$65,000. Compensation within this range is commensurate with experience. JAGB provides a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and 401(k) with employer match. Generous paid time off.
