Junior Achievement of Greater Boston Honors Representative Frank A. Moran as the 2025 JA Advocate of the Year

Boston, MA — Junior Achievement of Greater Boston proudly announces Representative Frank A. Moran as the 2025 JA Advocate of the Year. He will be recognized on November 20, 2025, during the JA Inspire Launch Breakfast at the Hynes Convention Center.

This honor celebrates Representative Moran’s outstanding support of Junior Achievement’s mission and his steadfast commitment to empowering young people through financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship education. His leadership and advocacy have created meaningful opportunities for students in his constituency and across the Commonwealth to build the skills and confidence needed to thrive in the global economy.

Representative Frank A. Moran serves the 17th Essex District in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Before his tenure in the State House, he served on the Lawrence City Council from 2008 to 2013, including three years as Council President. He is also an active member of the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus, where he continues to champion equitable access to education and career development programs for underrepresented youth.

The JA Inspire Launch Breakfast kicks off the annual JA Inspire program, a dynamic, hands-on career exploration experience that connects thousands of middle and high school students with local employers and industry professionals. Through interactive exhibits, engaging demos, and real-world conversations, JA Inspire helps students discover career pathways, develop essential employability skills, and envision their future success.

Representative Moran exemplifies what it means to be a true advocate for youth empowerment,” said Radhames Nova, JAGB President & CEO. “His dedication to expanding opportunities for students embodies Junior Achievement of Greater Boston’s mission of preparing the next generation to succeed in a changing world.”

About Rep. Frank A. Moran

Frank A. Moran is a proud immigrant, small business owner, devoted father, and dedicated public servant. Raised in the Beacon Projects of Lawrence, Frank learned early the values of hard work, perseverance, and community from his parents. While attending Greater Lawrence Technical High School, he earned a co-op job with Digital Equipment Corporation and also worked at DeMoulas Supermarket, where he met his future wife, Wanda. By the age of 19, Frank had already purchased his first home, a testament to his drive and determination and later launched his own real estate business.

A lifelong resident of Lawrence, Frank has always been deeply rooted in his community. From coaching Little League to raising his two children in the city he proudly calls home, he has lived the values he champions. His passion for advocacy and civic engagement led him to run for public office, and in 2007, he was elected to an At-Large seat on the Lawrence City Council, serving three terms, including two as City Council President.

In 2012, Frank Moran was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Quickly recognized for his leadership, he earned a committee chairmanship in only his second term and has since served as Chair of the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus and as a Division Leader in the House.

Today, as the Second Assistant Majority Leader, the highest-ranking person of color in the Massachusetts House, Frank continues to champion legislation that expands opportunity, strengthens families, and improves lives across the Commonwealth. Through every role, Frank’s commitment remains the same: building a stronger, fairer, and more inclusive Massachusetts for all.
